Python With A Side Of Lemon & Lime, Please

Top: Tobi.com // Pants: H&M // Denim Jacket: Levi’s // Shoes: Zara // Purse: Rebecca Minkoff // Sunglasses: Burberry // Earrings: Kate Spade // Necklace: HRH Collection // Rings: YSL, Colombia // Watch: Michael Kors // Bracelet: {Courtesy of} Shira Melody Jewelry, Vintage

What’s one way of standing out in the suburbs? Wearing this outfit and going into the local grocery store for a cup of Starbucks. It was kind of funny, actually. “One of these things is not like the others…”

Python. Peplum. Green. Neon Yellow. A combination of all sorts of amazing things, and it came out so well (in my eyes, at least)! Unfortunately, I feel like I may need to list these amazing pants on Poshmark soon, as they stretched out a little too much throughout the day for my liking.

Keep tabs on my closet (I added a nav link at the top of my blog!) if you’re interested in snagging them up…or anything else I list in the coming days. I did a major spring cleaning sesh this past weekend and I literally have five garbage bags full of clothes and accessories waiting to find new homes.

  1. Hee hee, I totally know how you feel. Before working at ModCloth, I worked in IT. I used to walk into rooms dominated by pale, older men like “Oh heeeeey”! ;)

Let them look, honey, because you are gorgeous in this outfit! I love that top, and you have convinced me that I need a denim jacket. (How do I not have one?)

    1. LOL. I heart you! Thank you, Santina! Yes…you do need a denim jacket. I didn’t know how bad I needed mine until I found this one and now I can’t take it off! XO

    2. Oh my gosh, those pants are just crazy. Really unique! I do know that they’re out of the financial reach of most people, though, because python cowboy boots can go for $300. But I’d like to see some, sometime.

  2. Hahaha you stand out in ALL the right ways! And YAYYY for the shop my closet link- you are going to make so many ladies so happy to be able to purchase your closet!!

Love this whole look and I think I need to wear my snakeskin pants this week. Thanks for the inspiration! :-)

    1. I hope I can sell my clothes! Fingers crossed. :)

Thank you! And yes…please wear your snakeskin pants this week! Can’t wait to see how you style them up again! XO

    1. The outfit kind of just came together as I got dressed in the morning and I’m so pleased how it came out! Thanks so much! x

  3. Your top is really cute! I’m not usually a big fan of animal print, but I actually like how the python print works with your outfit.

  4. I know exactly how you feel! Except change suburbs to rural towns in central illinois! I live in college town, so it shouldnt be too weird to wear daring outfits, but i still get those looks youre talking about!

Love the purse by the way, it’s the perfect color and has the perfect amount of edginess.

  5. Love the clutch as it is very 80’s. The studded detail, the zip, tassel and that lemon color are gorgeous. It matches perfectly with the vivid green t-shirt. At the same time I have to confess I have a soft spot for green and red together so…5 points for the perfect lipstick combination there.
I love this look, it is classy and elegant yet edgy. I guess it helps as well when you are as gorgeous as you are.
You won a new follower :)

  6. In college, my roommate taught me the best thing ever: “It’s completely ok to be overdressed.” Wear those python pants in the grocery store with pride!! :)

  7. I think the color combo is great. The green with the blue jacket really pops. I am not enamored with pythons, but the beige color fits well. I’m only an old man so what does my opinion count for?

      1. oh i bet. I already planned the purchase of the pants and all the images just flooded my mind of the possibilities. lol! just got hired at H&M so thats a bonus!! Have a lovely Saturday!!

  8. I absolutely adore your purse, where did you snag it?

The stares never stop, I came from a small island (Jamaica—>Oahu) to the big city (Seattle) nearly 14 years ago and I still get the stares, here in Seattle. MOST people wear grays, blues and black. I just love color. You have the right idea here mixing patterns with bold colors.

    Congratulations on being freshly pressed!

    1. Thank you! The purse is Rebecca Minkoff…got it on Shopbop a few years ago, unfortunately, but there are very similar ones this season!

Thanks for the congrats! Hope to see you around here more often. XO

  9. I am so heartbroken that we are not the same size, both in shoes and clothing. But I will definitely keep my eye on your Poshmark, which I have never heard of until now. How the hell is that possible? Anyway, you’re a beauty!

    1. I will be listing accessories soon! :) Definitely download Poshmark–I actually work there. :) We launched in December so still brand new, but have a great community of sellers and shoppers. You’re bound to find tons of amazing things in your size. :) Plus, it’s a great way for you to make some money on things you no longer wear as well! Check out the tab at the top of my page (“Shop My Closet”) and see how you can get a $5 shopping credit when you join Poshmark. ;)

      Thanks for your compliment! xo

  10. Very nice! Looove the studs on the clutch and the demin jacket. Plus that, I’m going to dream about those sunglasses haha. The pants are also real great and the whole outfit as a combo is a spring must I think with all the colours and all! Love it!

  11. I would totally wear this outfit!! Nice combo and the jean jacket add the right touch!! I wore a similar jacket to a couple of events last night and nothing else would’ve topped it off better than my “jeanster” :-) Just sub your blog!!!

  12. love this outfit! I especially like how you combined a green top with the python pants. Most people would have gone for black or beige. Kudos!

    1. Haha, love that! Join Poshmark if you haven’t already (it’s free!). Check out my “Shop My Closet” tab at the top and learn how you can get a $5 credit when you join. You can own my magenta shoes if you’re the same size! ;) XO

  13. “What’s one way of standing out in the suburbs? Wearing this outfit and going into the local grocery store for a cup of Starbucks. It was kind of funny, actually. “One of these things is not like the others…””

I can relate. I also live in a suburban area where everyone dresses so conservatively and boringly. The outfits du jour in my neck of the woods are button ups and khakis for the guys, and conservative A-line dresses and pearls for the girls. When they dress to work out (which they do to obsession here), it’s the same expensive workout clothes from places like Lululemon and expensive jogging shops. Everyone looks the same. I love to pepper my style with bold colors and fun shapes. I can wear a kimono one minute and an Indian tunic the next. And I love side zippers and asymmetrical buttons!

When I started a new job, I erred on the side of conservative for the first few days until I got a feel for the environment there. I got bored dressing conservatively and eventually found a way to balance my own style to make it appropriate for my new job’s work atmosphere. People should not be afraid of color and shapes!

I love your outfit. It’s fun, colorful, and trendy. Let those bland bores stare. You’re definitely turning heads!

  14. gorgeous outfit! you have no idea for how long i ‘ve been looking for a pair of shoes like yours!

  15. I was thinking only last week that nobody looks good in snakeskin, but you really do – so jealous. I adore the chain, where’s it from? (sorry if you’ve already said). Absolutely love this and the way you’ve shown the outfit from lots of different angles.

    1. Thank you! I am obsessed with python. You just have to find the right python print and in the right doses. The chain is from HRH Collection (hrhcollection.net). I believe her website is under construction right now, but keep checking back–she’s amazing!

      1. I emailed her to ask about the necklaces. I think this is what my jewellery collection is crying out for. Thanks and keep up the good work : )

  16. I just stumbled across this page and omg i love it! i love the print and brights as well as the outfit as a whole and the post itself. The reference to Starbucks made me smile… i think outfits like this deserve to brighten up such places and should be seen more out and about

  17. i absolutely adore your your Rebecca minkoff clutch! it is to die for! the contrast with the lime green is so chic and you toned it down with the pumps and the python pants. gorgeous!

  18. LOVE the outfit! So original!
I have the same problem living in the ‘burbs. The most exciting place I can wear anything cute in my town is the local starbucks. Woohoo.

  19. I don’t mean to be rude, but I would never wear snakeskin pants…..thats just not right….the purse was cute though.

    1. Hi there! I have a full-time job that takes up most of my time, but I love to workout (I’m a Zumba fanatic), shop, read, and hang out with my family.

  20. Incredible outfit! I totally understand..my office is dominated with jeans and t-shirts. I tend to stand out in the crowd with my hot pink blazer or colorful pants. This is a great post :)

  21. Hi, I do believe this is a great blog. I stumbledupon it ;) I’m going to come back once again since i have bookmarked it. Money and freedom is the best way to change, may you be rich and continue to guide others.
