About Me

Maria Morales, Kitties + Couture

Hi, there! My name is Maria. Thanks for stopping by!

I’m a 20-something year old girl (that’s quickly approaching my 30s…and proud!) who was born in Colombia, but now call San Francisco my home. Kitties + Couture is my personal style blog where I share what I wear, what I’m buying, and what I’m lusting after. By day, I work in marketing for a fashion tech company in the Bay Area.

I love traveling, working out (I’m a huge fan of Zumba), eating Thai food or sushi, spending time with family and friends, drinking a glass of wine (Malbec is my favorite), and laughing (many times with a snort).

A few other favorites:

  1. Mangoes with salt
  2. Dancing
  3. Sundays
  4. Coffee
  5. Avocados
  6. Squeezing lemon juice on top of my popcorn
  7. Sleeping
  8. Smiling
  9. Positivity
  10. Learning

  1. Hey Doll, I was wondering where do you get your inspiration from? And when you shop are you mentally composing an outfit or do you just buy pieces you are attracted to and put it together later?

    1. Hi Ivette! Thanks for stopping by. I am inspired by other bloggers, images I find on Pinterest, fashion magazines, and my Colombian culture! I have to honestly say that when I shop, I do a little of both. There are times when I know an entire look I want to replicate or pull off, so that’s when I think about shopping for a specific head-to-toe outfit. However, I’m definitely an impulse shopper and always end up with pieces here and there, with no outfit in mind.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. XO

    1. Thank you! The ring is Yves Saint Laurent and I bought it on Net-a-Porter.com. It comes in a variety of colors and is probably my favorite out of my collection! :)

  2. Um, secret gamer and ghost hunting lover too. My secret indulgence (not anymore, right?) is watching Paranormal State and Psychic Kids. I’m traveling to San Fran with my 17 y.o. daughter this June. Give us some tips on places to see, please, please? If you have time, we’d be HONORED if you would write a guest post for TooDreamy, maybe an expose on the best vintage and fashion shopping in San Fran? We’re hitting all of the tourist destinations with our cameras (Tea Garden, the wharf and waterfront, Chinatown, Golden Gate park, etc.) but only have one shopping destination at present, Belljar.
I’ll understand if you’re too swamped to do the post but we’d love to hear back on your thoughts about SF!

  3. Lovely website. I really like the format of your About Me page. Humorous and informative!

By the way, where in Colombia are you from? I just returned from living in Cartagena for some time. It was nearly impossible to leave. What a magical place. :-)

    Keep writing/posting/couturing!

    1. Thank you, Meghan! I was born in Bogota and also lived in Bucaramanga. So glad you loved Cartagena! I’m hoping to be able to back for a long vacation soon. xo

  4. Hi Maria, fantastic blog – I know its about the fashion, but i like the photos in particular. How do you take the photographs ? What kind of Camera ? What kind of photographer ?

    1. Hi there! Thanks so much for your comment! All of my pictures are taken with a Nikon D3100 using a standard 55mm lense. I’m fortunate enough to work with other fashion bloggers who are kind enough to take my pictures for me during the workday.

      1. Thankyou Maria, please compliment them on their ‘fashion eye’ for us – I think it would be good to acknowledge them somewhere if possible – For me – it’s the color and composition which are always great – as well as the subject – what an amazing idea !

  5. Maria! Mucho gusto! BLANDÓN is a contemporary women’s fashion line. The line started this past summer. We are currently designing our spring 2013 line and are selling our fall 2012 line with our show room. We came across your website as we started blogging through wordpress.com . We are new to blogging and hope to find connections with fashion bloggers such as you. The designer/co-owner of BLANDÓN is from Nicaragua. Your ‘Colombian’ background caught our attention as we reviewed blogs. We always feel a strong connection to our fellow hispanics, nuestra gente. We will be visiting your country next year for a wedding. A friend of ours is Colombian and will be having her wedding there. We are both thrilled and excited about this venture.
We look forward to reading and following you. You have a great sense and ‘eagle’ eye for fashion. Hope you’ll follow us as we commence our journey.

    All the best!

    1. Hola! Thanks for stopping by and introducing yourself and BLANDON! Congrats on the recent launch of the line. You’re going to love Colombia–que envidia!

  7. Hi Maria…I recently came across your blog and love it. From reading your random facts about yourself you seem fabulous! This may be partially due to me relating so well to nearly all of them. Shopping is a majorly enjoyable addiction…..just so good! Can’t wait to keep up with your posts!

  8. Hi there! I am the gal that copied your fur + gingham outfit and tagged you on Instagram. Anyway, I’m curious – do you sell your old clothing on Poshmark?

    1. Hi Emily! Thanks for commenting and I LOVED that you tagged me on Instagram. It’s so fun seeing how people are inspired by my looks.

Yes, I do sell on Poshmark (and buy!). I actually work at Poshmark, but have been totally obsessed with it before it even launched last year. You can check out (and shop) my closet here: https://poshmark.com/closet/maria
