Let’s start this post off with an obvious Editor’s Note: Uhm, hello, baby hairs! I woke up too late to wash my hair, so up in a bun it went. Little did I realize how many new baby hairs I have growing – and growing wildly at the back of my head. I guess my daily biotin intake is definitely working…
It’s June. June. Already! This year has been quite the roller-coaster for me so far. I’ve gone through really great highs (so many – literally. I’m truly blessed.), but I’ve definitely had my share of really deep lows. I don’t think I’ve ever questioned so many things about my life as I have in the last 6 months – everything from past/current/future friendships, relationships, jobs, family history and dynamics, finances, etc. And while it’s been mentally and emotionally exhausting at times, I have faith that all of this work on myself will lead me to even greater and more meaningful experiences in the future.

Spring is here in San Francisco (well, we never really had a winter) and the sunshine inspired me to go just a tad bit lighter with my hair – and, my gosh, I kind of love it. Coloring my hair is still a pretty big deal to me, as the first time I colored it was only 7 months ago, so for someone who has had dark brown hair for almost 30 years, this is quite a change. A huge, huge thank you to my stylist, Brian, at Population Salon for his amazing work. And congrats to them for opening up their second salon in the Mission! Local SF girls and guys, check them out – you won’t be disappointed!
Another thing I love about spring? The fact that I can pull out these jeans again. They’re about four years old and I’m still obsessed with them. It’s probably because they’re so long that I have to wear my highest platforms (5 inches high), causing my legs to look extra long (and leaving my co-workers wondering how I grew so much overnight).
PS: Behind the smile is a girl that got hit with a really, really bad cold/flu/bronchitis (really not sure what it is because I’m kind of bad about seeing a doctor unless I’m extremely, extremely ill). I had to stay home for half the week last week and I’m still coughing up some pretty nasty things a week later. Kind of makes me wonder if I should have gotten the flu shot after all…

Truth be told, as much as I love (LOVE) denim, finding the right jeans can be a bit of a challenge. I’m on the short side – 5’3″ to be exact – and most jeans are way too long on me. Normally, that would be fine, right? Just take them to a tailor to get them hemmed and problem solved. Well, so wrong. I’m somewhat lazy when it comes to those things, so I just end up cuffing them different ways and call it a day.
After cleaning one of my night dressers out recently, I found a gift card to Paige Denim that I had shockingly forgotten about. And that’s when I found my new favorite jeans. You guys: they’re an amazing fit (no cuffs!), are an amazing color with no distressing, and oh-so-comfortable. They’re made out of a special fabric that stretches, but not to the point of jeggings (bleh!). They still feel and act like regular denim. And there’s more: they guarantee that they won’t stretch out, another one of my pain points when it comes to jeans. So far, so good on this front – I’ve worn them a handful of times and they still fit like they did the first time I slipped into them.
PS: Yes, I get it. I can’t stop wearing this leather jacket. Sorry! It’s just perfect for San Francisco winters.
